Solar drying as food preservation!

Solar drying as food preservation! This is a project funded by the USDA Local Food Promotion grant. We’ll explore value-added processing for wild blueberries, traditions, innovations, technology and rules.

How can we capture the most value from the natural resources of this region, with the lowest amount of fuel input? Join us for a day of raking, winnowing, and drying wild Maine blueberries. Maybe we’ll experiment with some other berries, too!

Bread Baking with Steven Boas

Register here!

“I wasn’t able to eat bread without severe pain. It wasn’t until after I visited Europe, and didn’t have any pain, that I figured out how to make a loaf in the USA that also didn’t cause pain.”

Come Saturday to learn how to prepare a loaf of bread that is delicious, nutritious, and easier on digestion! Bread is tasty, it goes with many foods, and makes eating food more enjoyable. Bread makes making meals easier. And proper bread is actually critical to a good diet. I conjecture that many people are deficient in the life giving nutrients that bread has to offer, and if people could once again eat bread, then a lot of their diet ills would be solved… Come to find out.

Also, join Sunday to learn how to make a pasta that is nutritious, delicious, and easier on digestion! This will be a workshop where you’ll learn how to make pasta and then get to take home as much pasta as you make. Pasta also goes with many foods, and makes meals filling and satisfying. The nutrients found in this freshly prepared pasta are vital. Come to taste the difference, take home some pasta, and take home some knowledge.
